The Stories of Reconnection Rehab is a unique initiative in New Brunswick designed to assist addicts who have hit bottom to get a new start in life with opportunities to reconnect with their surroundings, including: themselves, others & the world around them.
This is made possible via a very precise and timely defined program of recovery the residents are exposed to during their stay in the rehab, with mental health specialists, recovered addicts and professionals of the medical world. They are made to reconnect with the community in 2 ways: doing labour for the community and making younger generations more sensitive to the debilitating consequences of addictions via sharing some of their stories. The beauty of the site the rehab is established in, is meant for the residents to experience a connection with this beautiful environment that is so typical of the Miramichi and this part of the Maritimes.
Lastly, the fact that the residents have an opportunity to work makes it possible for them to regain self-esteem, a sense of worth and finance part of their stay, re-learning autonomy and preparing them to the outside world.
